Fern & Folk is a woman-owned small business based in Baltimore, Maryland, specializing in handmade concrete pottery and cheeky home goods. Every piece is lovingly hand mixed, poured, sanded, and sealed by founder Stephanie Riley in her home studio, making each item a one-of-a-kind work of art.

Stephanie chose concrete not just for its durability and clean, modern aesthetic, but because it’s an eco-friendly, cost-effective material that makes art more accessible. Cement production can use less energy and waste than ceramic kilns, and because Stephanie makes everything herself in small batches, it limits overproduction and excess materials. The result? Long-lasting, sustainable pieces that are both budget-friendly and beautiful.

Fern & Folk is best known for its playful product line—including best-selling butt and boobie pots, sassy trivets, and spicy holiday ornaments—but also offers elegant planters, earthy home goods, and whimsical ghost figurines that capture hearts year-round.

What began as a passion project between Stephanie and her husband (who helped launch the business and spent every weekend at her side during that first year of markets) has grown into a thriving creative outlet supported by their growing family. These days, Stephanie continues to bring her quirky, handmade goods to festivals and farmers markets across the region while her husband wrangles their two young kids—and yes, the little ones often tag along to markets too.

You can shop Fern & Folk online or in stores across Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic, including B. Willow, Mount Royal Soaps, Simply Made Here, and Greenfields Nursery in Baltimore, plus Tidal Salt on Main, BotaniGal in Sykesville, Black Sheep Makers Market in Timonium, Plants Alive! in Silver Spring, Sprout: Plants and Things in Williamsport, and Succulent Garden in Charles Town, WV.
